FIFI Policy Academy
Date: May 1, 2009
The landscape of health care for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) in Florida will see many changes over the upcoming years. This is in part due to new polices and programs at the federal level, Medicaid Reform in the state, and changes to ensure that there are enough dollars to serve the many populations needing care. It is critical that family leaders be at the forefront of driving policy change at every level to ensure that changes are responsive to the real needs of families and communities and that services are family centered and culturally competent.
The Florida Institute for Family Involvement is responding to this need by offering Children with Special Health Care Needs Policy Academy in a series of training calls beginning May 1, 2009.

Thanks for your interest in participating in Keeping Afloat! Keeping Afloat is an initiative offered by FIFI
to help family run organizations throughout the state rise and survive the barriers to sustainability and
growth. Intended for the seasoned leader, the program will address leader survival beyond the chaos
and stress, developing the capacity to guide the organization through difficult times, enhancing the
organizations accountability practices, and adding to the funding base so that each year is not a
scramble to have enough funds to continue the mission of the organization. All sessions are interactive
and participants will be asked to bring their lap tops for hands on activities.
